Now It Begins…

So after a quick lull in the MMA schedule, this weeks kicks off what is a very very busy fall. In fact, through December, there will be incredible amounts of MMA events and news to cover. So expect more updates and more insight here at Fight Rumors.

Before we move on to this week and Wednesday’s Ultimate Fight Night 19 followed by the debut of Season 10 of the Ultimate Fighter, let’s take a look back at the weekend in a typical lightning round fashion….

Former Olympic wrestler, Daniel Cormier, will face another debuting professional at Strikeforce’s next challenger event. Cormier’s wrestling background make him a very intriguing prospect and Strikeforce jumped on him right away to help build future depth and gain a possible superstar down the road.

FightRumors early favorite to win the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, former IFL Heavyweight Champion Roy Nelson will be on MMAWeekly Radio.

We’ll also go with our dark horse for the new season of TUF, Wes Sims, who talks to MMA Junkie about the new season. For the record, Wes Sims has been considered crazy by some in the MMA World but if he has the drive to go on to this show after all his accomplishments, he is definitely a dedicated Mixed Martial Artist.

Big news coming out of Japan. 2008 Judo Olympic Gold Medalist Satoshi Ishii will debut against former Judo Gold Medalist Hidehiko Yoshida. And because no one follows Japanese Sports News, Ishii has already called out Fedor after his gold medal win. The debut will come at Sengoku’s New Year’s Event, which is one of the biggest annual MMA events.

MMA on Tap is announcing that Candian prospect TJ Grant is set to face Kevin Burns at UFC 107. You have to believe this is a definite undercard match but it could be a great match-up.

Arena Rumble had a great event with some bigger names this weekend including UFC super-vet Jermey Horn submitting Jason Guida, Clay’s brother, in the first round.
