Well, it was a good idea, but unfortunately for those of us who tried to watch the PPV stream of Shark Fights were hugely disappointed (and $5.95 poorer) as the feed on both MMAWeekly.com and Sharkfights.com were utterly abysmal. The fights were unwatchable as there was lag, no solid flow of video, and the sound was even spotty at best. It’s a shame too because there were some great finishes, so hopefully the next time Shark Fights tries to offer a live stream to the public all of their cables are plugged in.
Regardless of the technical difficulties, Sherdog.com was able to obtain the results here.
After talk that he wanted to fight at light heavyweight again, Randy Couture will face Brandon Vera at UFC 105 in England. A solid matchup between two fighters with a greco-roman wrestling background, this fight will be fun everywhere it goes, and if the rumors are true, we just might get this one for free courtesy of Spike TV.
Saturday saw the fourth installment of Bitetti Combat in Brazil, featuring Ricardo Arona’s return to MMA after a two and a half year hiatus. Visibly rusty, Arona won an incredibly boring decision over Marvin Eastman, but with a win and fight under his belt, hopefully he will come back stronger and more entertaining in his next fight. Also on the card, Paulo Filho won a somehow even more boring decision in his first fight back in Brazil in over 5 years. Pedro Rizzo became the first fighter to best Jeff Monson twice, as he was able to stick his jab and avoid the takedown en route to a well-fought unanimous decision.
Also on Saturday, Arena Rumble hosted some MMA veterans as Jeremy Horn choked out TUF flunkie, and brother of UFC veteran Clay Guida, Jason Guida in the first round of the main event. In the co-main event, UFC and Strikeforce vet Trevor Prangely needed only 20 seconds to dispose of MMA journeyman Dennis Reed. Also on the card, undefeated Strikeforce fighter and former meth-head turned inspirational story Lyle Beerbohm improved to 13-0 after a TKO stoppage victory over Josh Martin.
