Monday Morning MMA

Dream has announced that Kid Yamamoto and Tatsuya Kawajiri will be on the card in some form for the Dream 11 show coming up October 6th.  Great addition to an already sick card, even if the Super Hulk tournament is on there.  Kid and Tatsuya will both look to rebound following devastating losses in their most recent K-1 kickboxing fights.

M-1 has found a replacement for Don Frye after Frye walked away from the promotion for reasons he made clear to MMAJunkie.  Mark Kerr will now be fighting King Mo Lawal at the main event on Friday.  Also on the card, Fedor Emelianenko will have a sparring match with Gegard Mousasi, yet another move by M-1 to exploit their two biggest names, but watch out for Karl “Psycho” Amoussou as he takes on John Doyle on the undercard, the guy is a monster and at his age he has huge potential.  Check out our video section this week as I will add a few of his previous fights, well worth a watch.

It appears that the Palace Fighting Championship, the regional MMA promotion recently reported as closing it’s doors, is only on hiatus as it looks to restructure the organization to keep it’s profitability.  While it isn’t out of the woods yet, it’s always good to hear of promotions staying afloat as competition keeps everyone honest.

We finish with a rumor alert that true MMA fans everywhere should be praying isn’t true.  Word from Bloodyelbow.com is that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has been getting repeatedly knocked out during sparring sessions while training for Saturday’s superfight with Randy Couture.  One of the few truisms of MMA is that everyone’s chin eventually fails them, but for an absolute legend that has always had granite for a jaw, I hope his time is not upon us just yet.
